Founded in 2002 by a group of former students, it has two goals : – promote traditional Chinese medicine. – provide medical assistance to civilians living in conflict areas.The humanitarian mission of the association is originally embodied by Elise BOGHOSSIAN, parisian acupuncturist and founder of the association, who first committed to war victims, in Armenia and then in Jordan.In partnership with hospitals present in these countries, the association started to encourage the practice of acupuncture to relieve pain. Its low cost, its compact equipment but mainly its efficacy on pain without side effects, are all qualities that encourage its practice in refugee camps.Conflicts escalating in the Middle East, Shennong & Avicenna creates two medical dispensary in Iraq to provide assistance to displaced persons and refugees, far from cities and medical centers.
